Well hello there!

Okay, okay, I give.

I'm finally blogging again.  I've been called out on being MIA one too many times and you've all got me feeling guilty.

I don't even have an excuse for disappearing really.  All I can say is I've had some serious blogger's block and nothing super interesting has happened to us lately.

Kieran's still in the helmet, but only at night....when I remember to put it on.  I've been a bad, bad mommy about it lately.
As of our last appointment Kieran's noggin had only grown about half a centimetre.  Not a huge improvement.  I think that's what's got me discouraged  and has kept me from being diligent about it.  Not seeing results at the top of his head.  That one darn spot just won't budge.  Maybe I'm just at the point of being happy with what we've got.  I dunno.

Anywho, here other than that there's no more helmet news.

There are some things that Kieran asked me to tell you about though...

Kieran is almost walking.

He has 8 teeth now, not just 5 anymore.

He's learned how to shake his head no.

He's learned how to do it at the dinner table.

He doesn't always eat like a horse now because of it.

He says mama, but still says dada more.

He's definately looking like a little boy.  I miss my little newborn bubby boy.

He loves nakey time.

He loves the dishwasher.

He especially loves them when they're together.

He'd also like me to tell you that he's been having an awesome time this fall and will be back tomorrow to share some pics of you.  This time he'll be clothed.  And standing somewhere a little more appropriate.

Warning...I'm about to get mushy...

I have met so many amazing people since starting this blog.  So many awesome moms and dads have emailed me telling me their stories, asking for advice (which I'm pretty much terrible at giving...sorry!), and just saying hi!  I love getting those emails...they always make me smile, so keep them coming.

Many of them I've kept in regular contact with and I was lucky enough to actually get to meet a super sweet mama and her family during our last Sick Kids visit. (Hi K, L and little Lo!)

We met up for lunch (although we ended up talking so much that only the kids ate) and had a great time chatting and watching the kiddos stare each other down (Lo didn't seem too sure about my overly friendly kid hah...sorry buddy! I always tell him to keep his hands to himself but he just doesn't listen).

But check the two of them out - they're totally rocking their helmets (the kid in the background looks seriously jealous)!

It's so nice to finally be able to sit down with someone who's going through the same thing and compare our stories and vent about it to someone who really understands.  It was especially nice to have that meeting happen on a day where I was feeling really discouraged because just talking to K really made me feel better and like I wasn't alone.

I'm so glad I got the chance to meet the 3 of you and hope we can get together again!

I'll keep working on getting Kieran to keep his hands to himself....I swear.

News, reviews and a request for booze...

My hopes and dreams are dashed.  My spirit shattered.

We're stuck in the helmet for at least another four months. I don't even know why.  I even called my mom to confirm she heard the same thing as I did at our last appointment - only one more month.

Kieran's head still has a triangular shape to it and Trevor wants it to be more round.  I just don't get how we went from one month to "at least four" (which would actually be 5 months from our last appointment where he said one month).  Did I mention he said we only had one more month?

I'm totally bummed, and you're all stuck with me for at least another four months.

But I'm sure you don't mind...how can you resist this face?

If you feel really sorry for us and want to help, you can forward donations, wine and chocolate to us.  Email me for our address.  Thanks in advance.

Now I have to tell you a little story.

I was lucky enough to receive a Tumzee to try out and review for you lucky folks.  I swear this blog isn't going to turn into a review site, it's just a product I thought would be super beneficial for anyone struggling with tummy time and flat spots and begged them to let me try it out so I can tell you about it.

So the wonderful people at Tumzee agreed to send one to me, and let me tell you, this thing is awesome! I wish I had known about it when Kieran was younger and we had serious tummy time issues.  It's like a Bumbo with a purpose!

Kieran seemed so comfortable in it, and loved looking around.  One of our biggest tummy time issues was that Kieran would always stare at the floor.  He wouldn't lift his head to look around.  The Tumzee seems to be the perfect solution for that.  The position it puts the baby in is perfect for strengthening their neck and back muscles and giving them a good view of everything around them.   It's also not too high off the ground that they can't reach for something put in front of them...talk about multi-purpose! Strength training and developing motor skills all in one.  Bonus!

It's also perfect for containing a mobile baby for a bit.  I stuck Kieran in it quite a few times with some toys in front of him and he was more than happy to lay there and play...without being able to crawl away on me! Awesome!

I love this product and would recommend it to anyone.  It would make an amazing shower or new baby gift and is awesome for anyone who's struggling with tummy time or needs to do repositioning techniques for plagiocephaly.

Oh and did I mention it was designed in Canada?  Love it!

Now here's the best part.  Because spending money makes me feel good, and having awesome readers makes me feel good too, I'm going to combine the two.  I'm going to spend my money on one of my awesome readers...and send one of you your very own TumzeeTumzee isn't giving this away, this is coming out of my own pocket because I love this product and want to share it with you.  I really hope John isn't reading this.  Hi hon! Love you! I'll share my donations, wine and chocolate with you! xoxoxoxo

Making good on my promises...

I'm back...I told you I would be!

These past few weeks have been insane for us.  Something has been going on every day, and we took our first camping trip with Kieran.

Since I blogged about us last, here's what's happened.

Kieran has started to crawl.

He now has 5 teeth.

He's looking less like a baby and more like a little boy.

He eats like a horse...anything and everything.

He's really starting to look like his mom (Yay! Sorry hubs!)

He says "dada" but still won't say "mama".

He's super, duper cute.

And his head is really round.

Tomorrow is our last day with the helmet and we are so stoked.  It's been a long, hot, 3 months, but seeing the results have made everything totally worth it.  All of the guilt, the worry, the discomfort, everything, has gone by the wayside and been replaced with relief when I see that round little noggin.

For anyone who might be going through the same thing, and has the same feelings I had through it all, please throw them out the window.  You're making the right decision.   It's harder on you than it is on them.  It's worth it.

Back tomorrow with more about our camping trip, the end of the helmet....and another surprise!

Miss me much?

Just popping in to say I'm still kickin'...I've taken a bit of a blog hiatus but will be back tomorrow.  I promise!
